„Schnitzeljagd durch die Türkei“, funny, endearing yet informative docudrama sends host Ben on a wild chase across fascinating Turkey (and yes, we captured beautiful scenes on Black Sea’s shore and managed to record crystal clear dialogue in some of Istanbul’s noisiest spots), for German kids channel KiKa, 4  episodes 25’ 2012 (director, writer)

„Schnitzeljagd durch die Türkei“, docudrama, for German kids channel KiKa 2012 (development, storylining, design)

„Erde an Zukunft“, cool weekly show on the planet’s future for cool kids from 8 to 12 with brand new host Felix in his brand new studio, for German kids channel KiKa, 4 episodes 12’  2011/12 (director pilot season)

„Erde an Zukunft“, weekly show, for German kids channel KiKa 2011 (development, storylining, design)

„Sturm auf die Stasi – Untergang eines Geheimdienstes“, docudrama reconstructing the last 24 hours of the STASI by seamlessly blending cinematic drama taken from the real life of our protagonists with tons of ultra-hard-to-find footage and thoughtful statements from top-secret insiders as well as their victims, ARD network, 75’ 2010/11 (development, writer, director)

„Das Schwert der Shogune – Japan“, docudrama acted, directed and shot in our own purpose built studio in Japan (ok, only partly purpose built, but this great open air and indoor set had long been forgotten until we revived it) and hosted by Oscar-winner Maximilian Schell for German broadcaster ZDF and their „TerraX“, 45’ 2010 (writer, director, line producer)

„Leonardo da Vinci – Der Genie-Code“, docudrama  telling the secret life of Leonardo da Vinci, shot in particularly rich and vivid cinematic images and partly produced in uber-difficult historical locations from Tuscany to Milano, for German broadcaster ZDF and their „TerraX“, 45’ 2008/9 (writer, director, line producer)

„Kampf um die Weltmacht – British Empire“, docudrama on Britain’s Rise to Power from Elisabeth I. to the the End of Empire, driven by dramatic scenes as well as an astonishing amount of completely unseen early colonial footage, much of it in color, and hosted by Oscar-winner Maximilian Schell, for German broadcaster ZDF and their „TerraX“,  45’ 2008 (writer, director)

„Großer Bruder, Uncle Sam“, documentary on the ambivalent „special relations“ between West Germany and its closest ally from 1945 to the day the wall came tumbling down, based on tons of unseen and unusual archival footage, statements by DJs, Foreign Ministers, Americans, Germans, and of course shot on location in Berlin, for ARD network’s broadcasters RBB/WDR, 42’ 2008 (writer, director)

„Die Irrfahrt der Geiselgangster“, innovative docudrama/real crime story, seamlessly blending dramatic action shots restaged from and combined with unknown footage from German, Polish and Ukrainian sources, but also looking into the emotions of the hostages, the motives of the perpetrators and the inner workings of police on the job (with some added pious words from the Ukrainian police-general who stopped the perpetrators singlehandedly), for German network ARD, 45’ 2006/2007 (writer, director)

„Der Coup von Zehlendorf“, docudrama/real crime story, shot the dramatic bits, restaged from photos and footage, for German network ARD, 45’  2006/2007 (director in part)

„KGB in Deutschland“, 2-part documentary on the provable and real (as opposed to purely imagined) operations of the KGB in both German states from ’45 to the early 90s, with many ultra-secretive but very real participants from the ranks telling it from their perspective, and of course with quite a lot of highly secret footage and impossible-to-find documents thrown in (and honestly you won’t find a closer look into the KGB’s eye or the inner workings of any spy agency and their cost in human lives), for German network ARD, 2 episodes 45’ 2006 (development, head researcher, writer, director)

„Attentat auf Adenauer“, docudrama about an explosive attempt on Adenauers life in 1952, but really telling a much wider story about revenge, hate and hope in the aftermath of the Holocaust with the help of statements by surviving participants, shot partly on location in Israel and Germany, with much unseen archival footage of contemporary Germany, Palestine,  Bricha and Irgun Zwai Leumi, for German network ARD, 45’/52’ 2004/5 (writer, director)

„Ludwig II. - Tod des Märchenkönigs“, innovative docudrama solving once and for all the riddle of Bavaria’s „Crazy King’s“ mysterious death while leading to unexpected and unprecedented insights into his tormented private life and thought, for German broadcaster ZDF and their „SPHINX“, 45’/52’ 2004 (writer and part-director with estimated colleague and film maker Ray Müller)

„Sturm über Persien“, docudrama on the Life and Times of the ancient Persian Empire under the onslaught of Alexander the Great (still one of the very few documentaries on Achaemenid Persia there is, we think), for German broadcaster ZDF and their „SPINX“, 45’/52’ 2004 (writer/director)

„Die UFO-Story“, a documentary searching for the real sauce on the first saucers from Outer Space, which of course leads us to Nazi scientists. Received a sceptics award, saucers have never been the same since. Shot on location in some of the remotest locations across the US, with tons of top-secret government footage and super-rare saucer tunes thrown in, for ARD network, 42’/52’  2003 (writer/director)

„Nervenprobe – Kuba-Krise 62“, a highly innovative docudrama on the hot days of the Cuban Crisis with miles and miles of unseen footage from US and totally secret Russian archives, some of it so unexpected and surprising that people still think we shot it ourselves (of course we didn’t, we just dug down into the hot core of the earth and stopped sleeping), for German broadcaster ZDF, 90’ 2002 (writer, head global research)

„Marlene Dietrich – Die Gegnerin“ documentary on the mysterious diva seen from an unknown angle as Hitler’s enemy, thanks to those unknown shots of her closely behind the front line we finally did find, for German broadcaster ZDF and their legendary Contemporary History Unit, 45’/52’ 2001 (writer, director)

„Pforten der Hölle“, documentary showing the impact on and the complicity of the christian churches in Germany under Nazi Rule, when indeed the „Gates of Hell“ opened, for ARD network, 45’ 1999/2000 (writer, director)

„Ernst Udet – Der Flieger“, docudrama on the tragic Rise and Fall of famous flying ace Ernst Udet, who while not a Nazi in thought and heart still became Hitler’s air war technician in chief for purely personal reasons (his love of flying and luxury among them) and thus helped unleash air war and the horrid madness of World War II, for German broadcaster ZDF’s Contemporary History Unit, 45’/52’ 1999 (writer, researcher)

„Francis Drake – Der Pirat der Königin“, docudrama about the exploits of Britain’s arguably most brilliant and certainly most fearless daredevil of a captain, told in the perspective of a murderous global power struggle, for German broadcaster ZDF and their „SPINX“, 45’/52’ 1998/99 (writer)
